Time for a travel kettle?

Friday, March 11, 2011

February may not be the time of year when many people think they’ll need an electric travel kettle – myself included. But, it being half term and looking for something fun to do, today I drove to our local beach with kids, dog, picnic and thermos for a long walk and a bit of (very) fresh air. After a long walk, chasing the waves, writing names in the sand and collecting pebbles we were all chilled to the bone and in need of a hot drink. We got back to the car for our picnic but the water in the thermos wasn’t by this time very hot. It’s a small thing but it got me thinking that I should have just bought my travel kettle and we’d have had hot water in an instant for any drink we wanted. Of course there’s normally always a café - which would have been great - but where we live the beach café’s closed at this time of year. So for our next winter beach trip I’ll be taking my travel kettle so we can have hot drinks wherever and whenever we want them.
